Four of METADAC’s studies are part of CLOSER (Cohort & Longitudinal Studies Enhancement Resources). CLOSER’s mission is to maximise the use, value and impact of the UK’s longitudinal studies, both at home and abroad.
Located at the UCL Institute of Education and bringing together eight leading studies, the British Library and the UK Data Service, CLOSER works to stimulate interdisciplinary research, develop shared resources, provide training, and share expertise. In this way CLOSER is helping to build the body of knowledge on how life in the UK is changing – both across generations and in comparison to the rest of the world.
The following METADAC studies are among CLOSER’s eight UK longitudinal studies:
1958 National Child Development Study
Millennium Cohort Study (Child of the New Century)
Understanding Society: The UK Household Longitudinal Study
There is also a harmonised dataset for height, weight and BMI CLOSER which includes 1970 birth cohort, 1958 birth cohort and Millennium birthcohort along with ALSPAC and the MRC National Survey of Health and Development. For more details, see the CLOSER resources page.
You can visit the CLOSER website for more information on all these studies via the links above, or go straight to CLOSER Discovery to search the available variables.
